You impress me.  Not because you are fast (but you are.) Not because you are you never stop (but you don't.) But because in a whole school full of kids racing, you had the most fun (I could tell.)
I love your smile.

Hawaii

I don't take one little bit of this island for granted.  I freaking live here...  (well, for now.) ALP_9211

Carter

Today you rode your bike without training wheels for the first time.
We have practiced this a few times. You were so frustrated with me for making you get back on that bike over and over.
But today was it, kid.
You did it.
I apologize for not taking pictures.  I was too busy running behind you shouting about what a superstar you are.
It was tough.
But we can do hard things.

Christmas 2014

Six months ago I saw these giant bears, snuck them home, and stuffed them in my closet.  I have been living out of laundry baskets ever since for fear of ruining the surprise, and counting days until I could live vicariously through you and "make your childhood dream come true."
It was everything I hoped it would be, for about five minutes, but that five minutes was totally worth it.
Later Carter, you confessed to me that you actually were hip to my plans, but kept quiet so as not to ruin my fun.  I loved you a little extra for that.
We spent the rest of the day in our pajamas catching bugs and eating pasta.
It was pretty perfect.
I love you everyday.

Seeing your tenderness towards your dolls, has been the best compliment to my parenting I have ever received.  You are such a sweet sensitive soul, and I am so glad you are mine.

You are my favorite piece of art.
I live with mini-lunatics, and I have the evidence to prove it. These little footprints are simultaneously infuriating, and adorable, don't you think?

Ladybug

Ellie, reliving my childhood with you has been the bee knees.  (I hope you have been enjoying it as much as I have.)   Your giggles are contagious, and your fart jokes are hilarious, and your smile is hands down the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. I am so glad you are mine.  Happy 5th birthday.  (Five? Whoa.)
