Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.

Who is this young thing?  Chris circa 2004.

The very first time she drew me and picture and wrote my name. ♥

Hey Sunday

Can't wait to see you again.

LOVE

Unsolicited, genuine, sweet, sweet sibling love.

We went to Moanalua Gardens to feed the fish.  It was such a nice afternoon.  Giving these kids an open field and trees to climb is similar to letting wild animals out of their cages.
I even had a glimpse of victory when Ellie shared all of her fish food with Carter after he spilled his (sans mommy intervention.)  The picture above was his "thank you."  And I silently did a happy dance.

Ellie's latest dictionary entry:  "Whackamole." Like "whack-a-mole."  Can be used in a variety of circumstances, but most likely a made up cuss word.

I don't even have words for how much love I have for these.
This makes me want everyone to run out and GET MORE FAMILY PHOTOS taken.
You can find lots more on my Flickr.

Just some sentences...

One of my proudest "Mommy Moments" was over hearing Carter sing to the dog, to the melody of Sublime.  "Chubbins, is what I got.  I said remember that."

Most of Ellie's sentences recently start with, "I'm a four year old." Like for instance, "I am a four year old now, so I don't have to take a nap."

To add to the Ellie dictionary: Snargles.  Definition.  When Chris give her cuddles with his 5 o'clock shadow, he is giving her snargles.  Not to be confused with "snorkels" which sound exactly the same.

Carter's New Year Resolution is to become a better Ninja.

Ellie called me upstairs for "one more kiss." I found her standing on her bed, pants down, mooning me and laughing her ass off.

My New Year Resolution is to run 365 miles this year.  The catch is I am not counting my regular workouts.  So the runs have to fit in on my off days.  Oh Snap.  The other resolution is to finish the year debt free.  So. Close.

I stumbled over these videos today, and had crazy spasms of laughing and crying.  If I could hit the pause button on my life, I would totally keep this girl my baby forever.

“A photo says, you were happy, and I wanted to catch that. A photo says, you were so important to me that I put down everything else to come watch.”
― Jodi Picoult
Friends, why are you waiting for the next milestone or holiday to take pictures of your babies? They are growing and changing every day, and it is the common/everyday things that will fade into your memory, and that you will miss the most. The days at home with your littles are not mundane, they are magic, and it is images of them just being themselves that you are going to cherish most.

Texture

This photo just fell in my lap.  Literally.  My little girl picked me the wildest flower I have ever seen, so naturally I had to photograph it.  There are two things I can always count on Ellie for, picking me flowers, and giving me reasons to take pictures.  <3
