Happy Anniversary

During practice and pregame, Carter does great.

And then the game starts and Carter
Spiderman starts to strategize and play defense.
Things you never thought you would shout in public: "Carter, Spiderman does NOT play soccer!"

Right around halftime a meltdown hits.

And when the game is over he finally accomplishes what he was there for, and hangs with his best girl, Brooke.

Today I skipped the gym and spent hours on the couch drinking coffee with my bestie.  I don't feel one bit guilty.

Sea World

I have been wanting to go to Sea World since I was a kid, and I finally got to go- to take my babies. They loved it. I love watching them have fun.

I left the camera at home so I could just play with the fam, but I snapped a few camera phone pics. :)

Carter quotes:

"Mommy!  Look, this Spiderman turns his head AND bends his knees!  This is unbelieveable!'

(Talking about his boxers.) "Mommy, whenever I wear these shorts to bed, my pee pee sneaks out..."  <---OMG, he is going to hate me for that someday.

Hello Monday

Hello new week.
Goodbye last weeks flu that took over my whole house.

Hello cleaning spree that is going to happen as soon as I quit procrastinating on my blog.
Goodbye perfect weekend that I had with the family. The first weekend I can remember Chris being home in months.

Hello another week of practice with my camera. I did some family portraits this past weekend.

Hello being focused on my goals.

Hello week of Halloween

Hello beautiful child of mine.

Hello freckles.
This week is going to be great.  Our schedules should be comfortable, I get to get back to my yoga class at the YMCA, and family comes this weekend.

Hello feeling of content.

My Week:

Busy, busy, busy.
And no pics to show for it.  Well, maybe a few but I haven't uploaded yet.  I will definitely have some this after noon.  But in the mean time, this is what I have been up to.
  • Chris came home Wednesday, well actually Thursday because he had duty on Wednesday- but still...
  • Carter saw Chris and ran straight through the screen door.  Seriously.  Then hit the ground crying in one big pile of shame for breaking the screen door.  We all pointed and laughed.  Kidding.
  • Ellie has said "Daddy" over 1,204,467 times.  She points and smiles and says his name over and over.  She is so excited he is home. (Don't get used to it kid.)
  • I have had two classes this week: Composition and Portraits.  I suck at Composition, but I will do it over and over, and over until I get it.  I (think) I kind of rock with Portraits.
  • I got two HUGE boxes of clothes in the mail for Ellie.  Hand-me-downs from my brother and SIL.  AWESOME!  I only have to shop for one child.  I'll take it.
  • Chris has duty today, but I have a babysitter, a photo class, and a few free hours to walk Balboa park and take pics.
  • This week I had my first experience (as a mother) with the stomach flu.  Cleaning up puke sucks.  But LUCKILY it was a short bout.
  • I got extension tubes in the mail.  $11 dollars on amazon.  Seriously.  My 50mm is crazy macro.  Expect super close ups of tiny things... just 'cuz I can.
  • The kids picked out their costumes.  I have Superman and Supergirl.  I didn't have to persuade at all. (Even though I was prepared to persuade them if need be.)
  • I am officially not addicted to coffee.  Since I don't drink or smoke (in 5 years) and I don't drink coffee- I am, for the first time in my adult life, not addicted to anything.  Woo Whoo!  Ps.  The cup of coffee sitting next to me right now is a treat, not a relapse.
  • I may very well be a 68 year old, stuck in a 28 year old body.
  • Having Chris home is awesome.
  • It has been in the 90's this week.  Which is torture since it is October and I should be wearing sweaters.  HELLO California!

"There can be no better exercise for strengthening the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."
Gibson Publishing

What a stressful busy couple of days I have had. If you know me personally, you can probably see it on my face.
But it is true. There is no better therapy than my babies. And laughing my butt of on the treadmill with my girl. And taking pictures in San Diego. And creating scavenger hunts. And phone dates with Chris while he is in port.

I have been avoiding my calendar, because it just reminds me how little he has been home the past two years, and how we have a months to go before shore duty is official.
Shore duty means I get my husband back (allegedly) but also that I leave this home I have created, and the friends who give me belly laughs.

Life sure can be bittersweet.

Happy Birthday Chris

A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the visit, Mom.

Red Tide, Blue Surf

I had never heard of this before. Why isn't this a bigger deal!? If you don't know what it is, click here.
I had SO MUCH fun spending time at the beach-with my girls.  It was so cool I had to go back the next day with my mom.  I couldn't believe my eyes. I took a ton of pics (tried too) and got one or two worth bragging over.  But believe me, my pics don't even come close to showing how awesome this is.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…
