Don't wish it away
Don't look at it like it's forever
Between you and me I could honestly say
That things can only get better
And while I'm away
Dust out the demons inside
And it won't be long before you and me run
To the place in our hearts where we hide
And I guess that's why they call it the blues
Time on my hands could be time spent with you
Laughing like children, living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers
And I guess that's why they call it the blues
Just stare into space
Picture my face in your hands
Live for each second without hesitation
And never forget I'm your man
Wait on me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever I simply love you
More than I love life itself

Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties...

the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay: to have patience with a slow learner.
quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence: to work with patience.

Chains do not hold a marriage together.
It is threads, hundreds of tiny
threads, which sew people together through the years.

Ellie DOES get scared.

Carter was being a mad man kicking the ball around the kitchen. It freaked Ellie out for some unknown reason. Not enough to leave, I mean- obviously- she needs to see what was going on. But enough that she stood watching like this:

I honestly don't think I have ever seen her scared of anything- or looking so innocent! HAHAHA One of my favorite Elle Girl Pics.

Monday Monday...

I feel so satisfied today. All the laundry is done. All the dishes are done. Groceries-check. House cleaning- fin!
All I have to do this next week is feed my babies, play with my babies, take Carter back and forth to school, and go to the gym . That is it.
And that is ALL I am going to do. Just play, play, play.
Life is sweet.

Mommy, Carter-Date Day

This used to be a tradition for us. Deployment stripped us of that tradition. Ellie gets alone time, because Carter goes to school- but it hit me the other day that he doesn't get much one on one attention.
I noticed the other day that he was saucy all day, and as soon as Ellie went to bed he calmed right down. Ummm- cry for attention. So today I got a babysitter and spent the WHOLE day just playing with my little man.
First he had a birthday party with one of his favorite playmates- Brooke. She is such a doll and her mama put together a very nice party. You know it is a good time when your toddler runs out of breathe while going at it in a bounce-house.
After the party we headed to the mall. He was totally spoiled- played games, rode the carosel, rides, lunch, and he got to pick out a present.
The best part was just sitting at lunch. I opened his toys and he played for an hour straight. No rush to eat his food, we had no where to go. He ate when he wanted to, he played when he wanted to- today, Carter called the shots.

Then he was my honerary helper at the grocery store (shopping is so easy with just one,) and as a reward he got "yackabarn." One yogurt...two spoons.
What a great day- he is a good date! But I missed my little Elle face, and was relieved disappointed that she was asleep before I got home.

Warning: I don't give a f*ck.

I finally hit the point in my life where I just don't care! Not in a bad attitude/chip on your shoulder sort of way- in a freeing realization.
This realization came over me last week while at the halfway party, and I have been dwelling on it for a couple of days now.
While sitting at the table with a group of girls the discussion came up, which fork do I start with? I did know, but didn't think that while sitting at a table with a group of friends, that should really be a concern. Grab a fork and have at it. So my response to a girl who seemed particularly concerned, "who cares, no one is going to judge you on your fork."
I used to be a little shy and self conscious, and not really the dancing type- more of a wall fly. But I finally decided, "who cares if someone is watching." I am in fact a white girl with two left feet- love me or leave me.
After much thought this is what I decided: I have my husband who loves me, I have my kids who love me, and I play by God's rules. And am pretty sure that is what matters.
So, do these pants make me look fat? Did that girl just stank eye me? Do you think they will like me? Did my kid really just have that tantrum in Target? Does my hair look okay?
I really just don't care...
And it feels GOOD!

Happy Birthday to me!

This was my present to myself! I have had my eye on it for a while, and since my MIL sent me some fun money, I finally picked it out.
I am planning on a new pair of running shoes too. I feel so spoiled!
I think I may be cashing in on pity points with the hubs being deployed for my birthday/anniversary two years in a row. I got an unusual amount of awesome this year. I will take it!

March 24, 2011

I am really just one lucky girl.
First of all- I got so many cards, gifts, well wishes I don't even know where to start. (Digging the spending cash! New bag wut wuuuttttttt!)
Second, every year for as long as I can remember, life just keeps getting better- which 28 years in, is a pretty good track record.
Third, today is my fourth anniversary with my hubster. Good stuff!
Fourth, I got not one, but two long phone calls from The Sandbox today. <3 Finally, it was supposed to rain today, but the sun decided to shine. I made a family recipe last night to celebrate: 001
My girl Andrea came over FroYo in tow, so that was obviously a good start!

This morning Carter had school so I started my day with a workout, spoiled myself with a cup of coffee, and spoiled my baby with play time:

I picked Carter up from school and headed to Coronado to meet up with my girlie. We didn't have any real plans and thought it was going to rain so first we grabbed a vegi-burger and played it by ear.
It was early and the sun was out so an impromtu trip to Balboa was in order. As soon as I heard Courtney was never there I couldn't help but start driving in that direction.

And then to wrap it all up, gourmet cupcakes from the Coronado Cupcakery:

I snapped these two pics on the way out. Courtney lives on the island (paradise) and has a honeysuckle tree outside her home with happy snails just hangin' out.

What a great way to spend a Birth'n'versary.

September 24th

As a reminder to have a good attitude :)

So I glanced at the calendar today. September 24th. The day my mom used to put a little note in my lunch that said, "Happy 6 month birthday." And then I immediately thought of my anniversary, since we were married on my 24th birthday, it is my 3 1/2 year anniversary. Normally this 1/2 year anniversary wouldn't even cross my mind, but I figured since we won't be together again this coming year, why not be flexible and celebrate now.
Chris can't have breakfast with us this weekend because of duty, so I surprised him with a huge Breakfast for Dinner meal.
Hey, it is not exactly a romantic date, but we are improvising.
As a matter of a fact, I am copy and pasting this post to my actual anniversary date, so when I feel like whining six months from now, I can be reminded that we already celebrated together

Every Little Thing's, Gonna Be Alright...

Finally! After a whirlwind couple of months- my life is back in order.
I finally feel like I have stopped doggy paddling with just my nose over the water line.

Ellie's asthma is still a little problem, but we are working with great doctors. Day to day, I think she feels pretty normal. At least not miserable and right now, I will take it! And instead of appointments three times a week, we are going every three weeks.

Carter's tantrums have got more under control- well, he is three- he still has tantrums. But I have the time and patience to deal with them properly.

I finally got a bit of out schedule back. This allows me personal time at the gym almost every day, which is such a stress relief! And hopefully I will be able to squeeze in a few more pics and more blogging.

No big news, and that is a good thing right now!
while i was getting ready:
"***gasp*** "mommy you look like a princess"

this morning when he woke up and i was home:
"mommy, my heart feels so happy to see you."

on our way to the park:
"mommy, i love playing with my brother.,"
me: you don't have a brother.
"yes i do, sissy's my brother."

Halfway Party

Things I learned from the halfway party:
1. The women of the Carl Vinson= party in a dress.
2. The cupid shuffle has four "to the left"s, contrary to what my feet tell me.
3. It has been to long since Malibu, Pineapple, and my lips had a party together.
4. If I have to party with out my husband, these are the girl I want to do it with!

I crack myself up:

Fifteen Months

Dual Qual!

My handsome man has done it again! Today he has passed his boards and received his Air Warfare pin. He can now proudly sign his name DC2 SW/AW :)
I love how hard working he is!

Carlsbad Flower Fields

I hope today is one of those days that stays fresh in my mind, and never fades to a distant memory.
Everything about today was beautiful. The kids, the colors, the company. I dressed the kids in their Easter clothes but didn't really get the posed shots I wanted. That is okay- I still got good ones. Of course, I couldn't persuade Carter to put on his Easter clothes with out his Buzz wings and Woody boots (cracks me up.) And Ellie was the more beautiful than any flower there. People literally asked me if they could take their picture WITH Ellie.
We also went strawberry picking- I didn't take the camera along because I just wanted to play with the babes- but I wish I had. We picked the juiciest berries you could imagine. The kid's bellies were filled before we left, and their clothes are officially died red.

"Mommy, when I grow up can I drive a tractor wearing just my underwear and cowboy hat?"

Wild Animal Park: Take 546534321354684

So let me preach. This place is AMAZING. The Wild Animal Park was originally a breading area for the San Diego Zoo. It has been HUGELY successful and morphed into a park of it's own. A beautiful, non-profit, park that has released thousands of animals back into the wild.
When we first moved here I bought a upgraded membership for about $150 (give or take) and have visited both parks, free parking at least 30+ times. In addition to that I have been able to take one person in free with me.
It has become my mission to share this with as many friends as I can, because we love it.
We had another wonderful day today exploring the safari, eating ice cream, and showing around Miss Courtney (AKA Miss Corny, Alias Cee Cee)

Seeing her with my kids makes me wonder who these Gingers really belong to:

We fed the Lorikeets:

And touched HUGE leaves:

Ellie is at the age where she is EXTRA interested in everything. She was so excited today, and it is beautiful to see the gears turning in that head of hers:

Carter got brave today. This was the first time he ever pet any animal at any petting area. Once he touched it, he didn't want to stop.

My babies kissing!

"Hi, do you speak parsaltounge." <--That actually happened. 160

I was supposed to be looking at the CUTE BABY elephants, but I couldn't help but notice how their hair is a perfect match. (Gingees have to stick together.)

Woody Lightyear explored a log:

And what would my trip be without visiting Bill- AND HE HAS A FRIEND!

Then we finished up our day with a burrito. Which is evidence of two things:
1. I have failed miserably at my goal to not eat out.
2. Ellie really loves black beans.

And a cute picture of Carter for good measure...
