Hearts

She makes me so happy.

Mom's Visit.

Mom is here, and OF COURSE she has to see the Wild Animal Park. We got some really cool pics.
And we are still obsessed with "Bill."

"Daddy firefighter. Daddy wear red hat. And with Mr. Orler on boat. They say 'Stop. Hammer time. '"
In case you were wondering what the guys are doing out at sea, Carter explains it all.
You can not control what happens in life, but you can control how you react.

Balboa Park

This place is beautiful. We didn't even scratch the surface of what Balboa has to offer and I am already a fan. Can't wait to go back.

I am pretty sure you are not supposed to pick the flowers at the Gardens, (and I did mention that to Carter once or twice) but he is a rebel who loves his Mama, what can I say...

My buddy.

Don’t focus on the one guy who hates you. You don’t go to the park and set your picnic down next to the only pile of dog shit."

This is why I NEEDED a girl:

I finally got to go shopping for clothes yesterday. I say finally, because our family has been so generous- that I LITERALLY have not bought clothes for either of my kids. I mean, of course I have picked up a thing or two here and there. Last winter I bought Carter a couple pairs of sweats in preparation for our winter in Clevo, maybe a cute onesie, but never a full wardrobe.
So that's awesome right- gifts galore, but I can't tell you how exciting it was to pick out her clothes yesterday. I have been plotting in my head for weeks. Every time I saw that she was starting to outgrow and item I would be all "oh, so sad, this may be the last time you wear this... tee hee hee."
I, of course, bought big- so Ellie is set. As a matter of a fact, I should return a few things, I got carried away by cuteness.
She even has a little dress that would be perfect for Thanksgiving.
Carter, believe it or not, (I believe it) fits into everything from last year. So he just got t-shirts and socks. He has an abundance of clothes right now. Let me tell you.
But my favorite thing- the jams. O M G, buying baby girl pjs= so fun.
My kids are seriously set until next summer.

So, bringing in the new prompted me to go through the drawers and pull out all of the clothes the kids have outgrown, or are stained up. Some clothes got passed down, and two bags of clothes went to Goodwill. Some stuff was super worn, but some stuff had not even been touched. We had a lot of clothes that the kids didn't need because it was summer here long before in Cleveland. Makes me feel so wasteful when we don't put it to good use. But, I got a smile out of it, so that was the point right?

I also went through the toys. I can't even explain the overflow of toys in this house. I made a big deal out of it for Carter, and explained to him how lucky he is to have so much, and he helped me pick things out that he thought other kids might like. So, I guess that was a good learning experience.

I am resolving myself to not buying another thing for the kids until Christmas. Seriously, no cute dresses, no books, no puzzles, no dollar bins... you think I can do it?

After thought: I really rambled and lost my point here, huh?

Have I mentioned how much I love this weirdo.

From Coast to Coast

It is official, the Langtry babies have dipped their feet on the east coast, southern coast, and dun dunn dunnnn- WEST COAST. I guess we have been to the beach out here once, but not a beach like this one.

The Children's Pool (called that because it is shallow really far out) has been taken over by seals- and as soon as I heard that I bee-lined it to the beach. I guess usually the area is closed off because the seals are protected, but today people were LITERALLY swimming with them.

Very cool.

Sesame Street Live

The USO puts on a free show about deployment for military families. We went when Carter was a baby. So we went again, which couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have been having problems helping Carter to adjust to all these changes, and this was exactly what he needed. I mean, at least encouragement, right?
The best part is we got to go with a group of friends, which doesn't happen all the time in my world, so that is exciting.
Ellie had mixed feelings, she was nervous, but by the end she was into it. Carter was excited, but tired. He surprisingly picked up on the point a little, and talked about Elmo being sad- so, we can watch the DVD they passed out and talk about it a couple times, and maybe he will adjust a bit.
My girlfriend gave me a little advice, so the plan is "think Super Nanny." ;)
We had a jam packed day of fun today, which led to this.
Without further ado, our pics of Sesame Street. <3 href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/langtryfamily/4884584248/" title="081 by LangtryFamily, on Flickr">081

:p

Weird little coincidence kept happening today, that directed my thoughts to this conclusion: An angel has been kickin' it around here saying things like "keep your head up you silly bitch!"
What, isn't that how your angel talks to you?

Good Times:

You know your hernia has reached new great lengths when you are sitting on the couch, in a t-shirt, and your son comes up to you with one finger out, "Mom, I push it!?"

Gu cheng I am a spoiled child

This little dude has been a thumb sucker since day one, but two and a half- it's time he gave it up. A few months ago we bribed him with his new Buzz Lightyear doll, and it worked, that is until Chris left this last time. I guess that the instability ans constant change that has been this year, was just a little stressful for him, so he grabbed onto his security blanket.
So, I let it go for a bit, but I can literally see his little beavers moving forward. He has him thumb in now more than ever, and he is sucking HARD.
For the sake of his mouth, I have to do something.
We ordered a book (couldn't find one in stock) and went and picked out a plethora of Thumb Covers (AKA Bandaids.)
Now, to stop him from ripping them off and sucking his thumb anyways...

Deployment Tips

So, I didn't think that this "in and out" the ships has been doing would be a big deal for the kids. But I guess I was wrong. Carter has been a MANIAC- he is back to sucking his thumb, and he has had accidents at bedtime. Ugh, I don't know.
Anyways, it has made me think of how I am going to prepare them for the upcoming "big" one.
So I have been made a list:
Daddy Dolls
Kiss Jars
Books
Recordable Story Books
Make Videos
Some sort of Countdown
Build-a-bear can put your voice in an animal
Make homemade T-shirts with pictures
Daddy Mobiles for the bedroom
Make your own story book with your pictures

Any other suggestions? I am open.
