Wild Animal Park San Diego

I have mentioned this park before, but I have to say it again. I LOVE IT! I love it, I love it. We all do. In fact, we went twice this weekend. And I swear, every time we go (we have gone at least 7 or 8 times now) we find something new that we didn't see before.

This time it was this dude:

116 The Shoebill

An adult is anywhere from 45-60 inches. FIVE FEET PEOPLE! FIVE FEET! It has a ten and a half foot wing span. I can not believe this bird. You should see him walk. Crazy. This feels like the time I discovered the giant hamster.
And that folks, is my zoology lesson for the day.

Even her foot is perfect.

I love baby feet.

Little man

Fun at breakfast .

Vanilla Yogurt, a few drops of food coloring, and dry cereal= FUN!

I just laid paper towels down, and taped wax paper over top. He got to "paint" while he ate breakfast. Best part, pretty mess free. One of my better ideas if I do say so myself. Loves it.

Carter's colors

Carter has been using the Car's characters to learn his colors. So things are "Dinico Blue" "Chick Hicks Green" and "McQueen Red." I don't know where he comes up with this shit.
Anyways, he gets right up in my face the other day, stares at me for a minute and nearly pokes my eye out as he declared "MOM, Chick Hicks!"

Ellie these days.

When Ellie was a newborn, I imagined that she was a going to be a very sweet girl. When she cried incessantly, I imagined she was saying "I am sorry Mama, but if you could just hold me a little longer..." I think that fantasy got me through the five months of colic.
Now I watch as Ellie flaps her wings (throws her arms up and down in a tantrum) at 6 months old and I realize: She is not as sweet as I thought...
She is going to be just like me...

Happy Fathers Day!

Today I was a woman on a mission. I scrubbed my entire house, then decided I wanted it to stay that way, so I better take the kids and leave! We spent the ENTIRE afternoon at the park. It was just a perfect day.

She is teething hard, but still pretty happy.

Carter played at the splash park. I LOVE SPLASH PARKS This is the best way to let my kid have fun, be active, enjoy the CA weather, and wear himself out.

Carter has also decided he finally likes to swing. Which I love. I don't know why I care so much, but I hated the fact that he didn't like to swing. Out of nowhere, he asked to go in, and now he doesn't want to get out. He throws his arms up and does his "to infinity, and beyond **humms space ranger music***" He also charmed two little girls today, probaby about 10 years old or so. They loved him, and asked if they could take him on the jungle gym. He got to play for like a half hour. He ate up that attention, and didn't care that they were older, "Hi friend, I Carter, play with me?" UGH I LOVE HIM!

Dear unwritten rule book on how to be a parent,
My son wants to eat pepperoni. Nothing but pepperoni. Breakfast. Lunch. And dinner.
Awaiting your advise,

A girlfriend of mine posted this as her status, at just the right time for me. I like it.

Elle and Cart

Today Ellie shocked me when she rolled her way over to the closet door, and found the (super interesting to all children) door stopper. I ran to grab the camera, because I am on a quest to document every thing my kids to, and started shooting. Carter hopped in, and I was trying to get my shot, so I asked him to give her a chance. But watching back the video I saw just how sweet Carter can be. Check out big brother teaching sissy how to play.

Did you see that sweet face?! Did you see how he looked at her? ***melts***

But of course, she got it down. I can't believe how she has changed. And talk about a Mama's Girl. mmmm, I love them!

Dear Prospective Adoptive Parents of Carter,

The reason you should never let Carter bring his "pet" crocodile to the table is because although he is pretending to give Croc a kiss, he is really spitting his peas into his mouth.

Please give me the strength to keep my hands out of his playdough long enough for him to have fun. He doesn't care if the colors are separated, but my anal-retentive-ness does.

Rock that body!

Yesterday went like this: wash the bed sheets, three loads of laundry, one load of dishes, scower all three bathrooms, wash all windows and mirrors, vacuum and mop all floors, take kids to park, take kids to pool, two work outs, crafts, squeeze in some "me" tine before bed.
This weekend is Chris first weekend (minus leave) since he has been back. Next up: Wild animal park, enjoy family time, R E L A X.

Ellie Peek

Carter, the self-proclaimed comedian.

I went up to the mountain
Because you asked me to
Up over the clouds
Where the sky was blue
I could see all around me
Every, Everywhere
I could see all around me

Sometimes I feel like
I've never been nothing but tired
And I'll be working
Till the day I expire
Sometimes I lay down
No more can I do
But then I go on again
Because you asked me to

Some days I look down
Afraid I will fall
And though the sun shines
I see nothing at all
Then I hear your sweet voice
Come and then go
Telling me softly
You love me so

The peaceful valley
Just over the mountain
The peaceful valley
Few come to know
I may never get there
Ever in this lifetime
But sooner or later
It's there I will go
Sooner or later
It's there I will go

June 2010? What, what, what?

Seriously, can time just slow down already? Things have been in fast-forward for three years now.
June? Chris just got home, and next month he is going to be leaving again. I feel my whole life is spent counting days, either waiting for his return, or his next deployment.

Hiding is futile.
