Trying to catch him singing.

And a little bit of chicken fried...

18 weeks

He's so on to me.

So, me and Carter were playing flash cards and he was doing extra good. So I figured "now is my chance" and set up the camera on the table. Of course, he is so on to me like usual. Why won't he perform for any one but me! Does any one else have this problem? I tell people "he is starting to talk," "he knows his animal sounds," "he can count," do you think he will ever prove me right? I swear it is a control thing- Hahaha- at least he is cute...

Indoor fun

It has been hot hot hot, and since I am feeling a little baby sick again I am avoiding the heat at all costs. Thank God for the Norfolk mall play area. It is huge and free. We spent four hours at the mall yesterday. Here is a pic Steph snapped of Cart and his "hot to trot" girlyfriend Mak. He is such a ladies man- check out that hand holding! They are so freakin' cute together!

Guess who got a break and surprised me? Yep- he told me he would be coming home for a couple of hours while they docked the ship, but he actually had two full days off. Carter is ecstatic with life (as if he is ever anything but) and it feels so good to have him home for a bit.

Too bad I have to work both days, and am violently baby sick- but whatever! Look at these guys ;)
He will go back out in the morning and will only be gone nine days this time. I can do that with my eyes closed. Anyways, Cart and Mama will be taking our first big road trip all alone during those nine days. We are headed to C-town for Tiff wedding, and our big introduction to the new babies in our lives. Lily will be almost eight months by the time I get to see her, and Rowan will be just over a month. It is going to be a short/hectic visit- but I am sure it will be well worth it.

In desparate need of vacation from my own body.

Having "morning sickness" until one in the morning, not too bad. Repeatedly pissing yourself while throwing up- such a bonus!

18 weeks and counting.

Sunday night

i put chooch to bed at seven thirty, and he cried for over a half hour. so i stuck him in bed with me, and he is propped up, sucking his thumb, hugging a cup of milk, zoning out to animation domination with me. meanwhile i am doing homework and he doesnt even care.
i love my little buddy. its like having a dog on the foot of my bed- only better ;)

Pity me... ;)

So, I haven't heard from Chris since Saturday and finally last night I got an email from him...and encrypted email. I have received three of them now that seemingly have been intercepted from the USN. BOOOOOOO.
So anyways, I am left only to imagine what he has to say to me. I bet it sounds something like this.

"Dear Ashley (Sweetheart,)
You are the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, and as your midsection expands- so does my love for you."

Sounds right, huh?

Things that don't mix: mowing the lawn, having a huge yard, being 17 weeks pregnant, doing this with my 17 month old.

Yeah, pain in my ass, but I got it done and that's all that matters. I ran out of gas half way through and thought about just leaving it- butttt. It feels good to have it done. I work this afternoon, then maybe some R and R tonight. Having Chris gone is a bitch, but I have to say- I am one hell of a housewife!

Carter's new favorite song

VA Aquarium- take 2.

So, we were at the Aquarium on New Years Day, and there was construction. It was nice, but slightly annoying considering it is $12 a person.
I have been hearing tons of commercials and NEEDED something to do today- preferably indoors considering it is 90 degrees and humid.
So I thought this would be cool, wouldn't you know that they are still under construction!? Whatevs, Carter dug it. He is so funny sometimes :)

Exploring the Eastern Shore

Up and over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to dip our feet in the Bay, and check out a state park.

Adios Chucky V

Again, in true Navy fashion, we found out Monday evening that Chris would be leaving Thursday night. Only a couple days difference, so not really a big deal, but still annoying. We went down to watch the ship get tugged out of the dock.
It was cool, but no camera's allowed- so I snuck a little camera phone snap shot.

So, let the countdown begin. Me and Chooch for the next month. Really, I feel fine about it- just have to keep busy.

"A photo says, you were so important to me that I put down everything else to come watch. "- My Sister's Keeper

I lifted this off of yesterdays post-secret, because I swear- I could have written this to Chris.

Carter at the fireworks.

Consider this video a mere sample of the jamming this kid did last night. He seriously danced circles around our blanket for an hour straight. He flirted with every stranger within eye contact range, and had people clapping and dancing along!

The 4th

I seriously had the best day ever!!!! We had a red, white, and blue breakfast, made it to base to check out all the ships decorated, the zoo, grilled in the back yard, had a picnic, went out for ice cream, and still made fireworks. They had a live band at the church where we went to watch them, and Carter danced like a mad man! The best part, it was just so relaxed. No one had anywhere to be, just the three of us enjoying each other. I uploaded tons of pics if you are interested.

This really mild compared to his norm, but I don't usually have the chance to tape it.

Chris is home (for now)

The Chucky V- on it's way out to sea.

In true Navy fashion, Chris came walkin' through my door yesterday, earlier than expected. (Not that I am complaining, but do they ever stay on schedule?)

Here is his recap of his first time out to sea:

From Saturday through Wednesday he got about twelve hours of sleep total.
He spent twelve straight hours on the flight deck, and has sun blisters on his face and head.
He worked through most meals and was so busy he didn't really feel hungry.
He probably lost ten pounds.
He said that they turned the ship so fast that they could literally walk on the walls. One one side of the boat you only saw ocean, and on the other side you only saw sky.
All in all, he said he was a neat experience, but not looking forward to going out for months at a time.
So, he was supposed to leave on the thirteenth, and come home in August, but certain things that are supposed to be ready are not. (Again- true Navy fashion.) Leave it to the shipyard workers to mess it up! So at this point we are not sure what is next. No biggie really- as long as it is not pushed so far back that I am 9 months prego. Couldn't you see that happening?
I talked Chris into snapping a few pics for me, so enjoy.

Sunrise in the Atlantic.
